AfterDAC

AfterDAC is when members of the club take trip to a restaurant after meetings in order to grab a snack or a late dinner, as well as to hang out with each other. It is held traditionally on Thursday because that is (generally) the day in which most members attend the meetings.

The restaurant of choice has typically been Old Teahouse in past years. However, more recently, the rotation has been expanded to include such establishments as Quickly, and In-n-Out.

AfterDAC usually lasts until at least midnight. When attending Old Teahouse, as the restaurant often gets crowded, there is a trend to also wander to the Big Kids Park after getting the food and boba drinks.

Some Wednesdays, a trip to the Segundo/Tercero Dining Commons is undertaken for some Late Night food. However, then freshmen and students with swipes have to swipe in their friends.

Halloween Party

The week of Halloween, DAC hosts the annual Halloween party. Events associated with the Halloween Party include watching "scary" (cuss the red ribbon!) or Halloween-themed anime. Halloween-themed anime music videos are also shown.

Food, candy & refreshments are provided, but the main event is the cosplay contest. The contest is worth seeing because of members' effort and creativity to dress and act like their favorite characters, who do not have to be an anime character.

It is also worth entering because prizes are given prizes for first, second and third place as voted by club members. Prizes are usually a gift certificate to Borders.

Adult Night

Regular Davis Anime Club meetings are open to all students and the Davis community; there is no carding. During Adult Night, people are carded and any series above PG-13 is shown.

Adult Night used to occur once a year, although it hasn't been happened since 2005. The shows may contain sensitive content, violence, or nudity.

Bree, the treasurer, desperately wants it to come back.

Japantown Trip(s)

A trip to Japantown in occurs once or twice a year. Members carpool there together and can bring friends. Riders are usually expected to pitch in for gas and bridge tolls.

People meet around 10:00 am in the MU bus circle, organize carpooling, then head off to San Francisco. Once there, members have a delicious lunch and go shopping at the several stores, such as include Kinokuniya, a Japanese bookstore, and Nijiya Market a grocery store with cheap items.

Last year, the then future VP, Mike, organized a christmas-time trip, primarily attended by people who don't live outside of nor-cal. Later, another, larger trip was planned by the actual officers.

Big Showing

Big Showing occurs at the near end of the school year when DAC reserves a whole floor of Wellman Hall to themselves.

Events normally include the gaming room(s), karaoke/anime music video room, and previews for possible series to be shown the following year.

The auction that occurs as the finale of Big Showing serves as the club's major source of fund raising. Items from the Japantown trips, books, people, and donations are auctioned off to raise funds for the club.

Elections are normally held either that week's meetings and results are announced at Big Showing. The 2009 elections, however, were held after Big Showing.

Conventions

Many of the members of DAC attend anime conventions. Like many club events, attending conventions is organized by various people who are willing to drive, reserve rooms, etc.

The three main conventions of interest are Fanime, Anime Expo, and Yaoi Con.
